We typically use instruments such as organ, piano, and guitar for the instrumental foundation of our musical groups and basic song-leading at Mass. All other instruments including, but not limited to, the flute, violin, cello, oboe, clarinet, harp, and percussion are used as supplemental instrumentation for these groups. Rehearsal and Mass times/dates depend on the particular group or need. Qualified instrumentalists need to possess basic music reading skills, ability to play in tune and tempo with a group or a soloist. CANTORS
Song leaders are needed at most Masses, especially those Masses with no ensemble or group present to provide the leading. Typically cantors are scheduled for 7:00 am, 8:30 am, 10:15 am, and 12:00 noon Sunday Masses. In addition, cantors are also scheduled for funerals, weddings, and also on various Holy Days and holidays whose dates may happen to fall within the week. Rehearsals are ongoing, but typically four times a year. Qualifications for a cantor include basic music reading skills, ability to sing in tune and tempo with a group or a single accompanist, ability to effectively engage the congregation in song. ADULT PARISH CHOIR
Our adult choir, also known as the “10:15 Choir,” is a four-part harmony choir singing everything from a capella gospel-style arrangements to traditional, full organ, full voice hymns. This choir leads song at the 10:15 am Mass every Sunday except on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, and the 8:30 am Mass on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. It will also lead song on special days such as: the Feast of Christ the King, the Solemn Christmas Midnight Mass, Christmas Day Mass, Confirmation, the Triduum, Easter Sunday, and Pentecost.
Rehearsals are every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Thursday of the month from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. Participation in the adult choir requires singers to match pitch, possess the ability to sing with a group, attend rehearsals, and attend the scheduled Masses. The Guitar Group leads song every Saturday evening at the 5:00 pm Mass. Sometimes referred to as the “folk group,” this ensemble sings a variety of pieces using guitars are the foundational instrument. In addition to leading song at the weekly Mass, the group also helps with Christmas Eve, and Easter Sunday. Rehearsals are every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Children from the fourth through eighth grades are invited to join the Sacred Heart Children’s Ensemble. These children lead sung prayer at the 10:15 am Mass on the 1st Sunday of the month. In addition to these regularly scheduled Masses, the children will also lead song on special days such as: the Feast of Christ the King, Christmas Eve, Easter Sunday, First Holy Communion, and the parish May Crowning. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 6:40 pm in the Church or Church Hall. Children joining the ensemble should be able to match pitch, possess the ability to sing with a group, and attend rehearsals and scheduled Masses and events. CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE
A bright, energetic ensemble of young adults with a variety of musical instruments lead worship at the 12:00 Noon Mass on the 1st Sunday of the Month and the 10:15 AM Mass on the 3rd Sunday of the Month. Additionally the ensemble leads song on Confirmation and Holy Thursday.
The ensemble sings mainly contemporary pieces, focusing on those pieces included in our current hymnal, The Music Issue. The group uses instrumentalists capable of playing the guitar, piano, and drums. Rehearsals are the 1st or last Wednesday of the month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
Vocalists should be able to match pitch, sign with a group, and all members should attend both rehearsals and scheduled Masses. The ability to read music is a plus but not a necessity. Anyone interested in sharing their musical gifts is encouraged to offer their talents to the parish.

RESURRECTION CHOIR
This group aids the Rite of the Christian Funeral in music and song. Families have the opportunity to request the Resurrection Choir when planning the funeral of a loved one. The membership is made up of those who have the ability to sing on an “on-call,” relatively short notice. Each member is made aware of the funeral as soon as the funeral Mass is planned and the group is requested. If the singer(s) is(are) available, (s)he meets thirty to forty minutes prior to the funeral for a brief rehearsal. If the singer(s) is(are) not available, they will be called when the need next arises.
There are no regularly scheduled rehearsals for this choir. Participation in this choir requires an on-call availability (usually during the day), and should posses the ability to match pitch and sing with a group. Music reading is a plus but not a necessity. LIFE TEEN BAND
Each Sunday evening at the 6:00 PM Mass, which is devoted to the youth of the parish, the Life Teen Band leads song for worship. Their musical style is that of Christian semi-Rock and they lead the young people and adults in a powerful and prayerful spiritual worship. In addition, they play weekly prior to Mass at the “Rock the Pew” event. They use a wide variety of musical instruments including electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums.
The main focus is contemporary praise and worship selections. The group also helps with: Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. Rehearsals are weekly at 4:00 pm on Sunday afternoons and occasionally during the week on a Thursday night. The ability to match pitch, sing with a group, attend rehearsals and attend scheduled Masses is necessary. Reading music is not a necessity, but is a plus. Anyone interested in sharing their musical gifts is encouraged to offer their talents to the parish.
